Green outrage at spin on Union Terrace Gardens consultation results
Aberdeen South Green candidate Rhonda Reekie is outraged at the spin being put on the results of consultation on destroying Union Terrace Gardens.
Rhonda Reekie said "The results of the official consultation is clear. 55% said No and only 44% said Yes. The position on the online petitions was overwhelmingly against with 8600 saying No and only 1600 saying Yes. With these results added in then we get to 63% against and only 37% for. Ordinary people have spoken and their views must be respected.”
Rhonda Reekie continued “In the face of this overwhelming rejection of the proposals is it disgraceful that the Chair of ASCEF is still saying that plans that would destroy these much loved gardens should go ahead. It would be a further waste of public money to hold a design competition for a scheme that is not wanted.
Rhonda Reekie concluded “Instead of talking down the city and promoting an unwanted white elephant, ASCEF should be working to boost the renewable energy industries that are our future.”
